Plan B Radio Show:

BBC Radio 1 isn't one of the most leading and popular radio stations. It has fairly average listeners with figures up to 54 thousand in 2014. The reason why BBC Radio 1 is starting to decline is because more people are listening to music online or are downloading music. This competitive market has dominated radios as radios are now mostly listened to in cars.

The target audience for BBC radio 1 are 17 - 35 year olds, the reason i think this is because its a radio show and radios are most dominant for drivers. Also, BBC is international so this radio station may be aired internationally.  Radio 1 specialises in popular chart hit music but provides more unique and different music genres after 7:00pm.

In this interview Plan B promotes ill manors by talking about it a lot and by always mentioning and linking back to the film. He talks about how he loved working with unknown actors and that he had a lot of faith and hope in the youth, he also goes to say that he believes that they will become future successful artists and make a great career. He also goes on to explain how the ill manors track was made by an instrumental/beat by a german record company, he was fortunate enough to contact this label in order to receive permissions for this beat. He also says that he owes his crew members a lot because they worked extremely hard and worked for hardly anything due to the credit crunch. He says that they worked for "Peanuts".

In this interview Plan B is represented to be very dedicated and humble, although he also shows himself to be very last minute with things and doesn't think too fast about things. He is also represented as some sort of talented genius / mastermind as he was the director, music composer, writer and even editing. He told us that all the stress he went through for making this film was all worth it. He ends by saying that he will never be last minute again and hopes to do more in his career as a director and his future career.

Plan B: Jonathan Ross Talk Show

The Jonathan Ross show is a British talk show that was first aired on ITV September 3rd 2011, it broadcasts on Saturday following Ross's BBC one show "Friday Night With Jonathan Ross" that ended in July 2010. Jonathan Ross has had a wide number of celebrity guests on his shows but has also had some controversial issues. He guest starred on the Russell Brand Show 18th October 2008 and this show led him to get banned by BBC for 12 weeks with no pay at all. This is because him and Brand called 78 year old Andrew Sach on private number regarding his grand daughter that Brand has dated. A media article and stories about this show called in a very high number of complaints which led to this ban.

The target audience for this show would range from 15 - 40 year olds. It would attract to teen agers as this show has celebrities like Justin Bieber, Jay Z,  Lady Gaga, Seth Rogan and so on... It may also attract to older audiences as some more mature older guests also appear like Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, David Attenborough and so on... The psycographics that may watch this are "mainstreamers" due to the celebrities on show but also "reformers" as plan b talks about some serious topics.

This show may appeal to many teenagers due to its amount of young and famous artists and actors but can also attract an older audience due to some more older celebrities along with politicians and some strong voices in society. This talk show helps people with high fame address their audience how they want to many people as it is on Saturday prime time.

Plan b is represented to be very successful due to his story meeting his idol. He is also shown to be a lot more mature than his other interviews and talk shows like on sbtv, he addresses his situation with the youth on a very mainstream show which shows he's very determined and serious about his opinions.

Ill Manors Index:

Plan B: Ted X Lecture

2/3) In this lecture plan b speaks his beliefs on young people and how politics and the media show them no love. He tells us that young people ignore authority and they listen more to the rappers then the people that give authority. Therefore he used his poetry to address his points but he used swearing and other rap techniques in order for the youth to listen and be entertained. The reason why he cares a lot is because he has come from a school motivates kids and told them they are valued, therefore he believes that it takes one person to change someone life. His first record did that as he tried to be a father figure to these troubled kids.(Who Needs Actions When You Have Words). His new project Ill Manors targeted poor schools to focus on kids that live in this broken world to act in the movie. He believes that CHAV means Council House And Violence. From this he believes that if newspapers can use the word chav (which is a discrimination) but they don't use any other word to categorise a group of people, he believes that media are demonising youth. The media use chav to target the un educated kids. He believes that the riots took place because it was the summer holidays and these kids cant afford holidays to go abroad and most youth centres were closed down. They rioted because they don't feel apart of society and they look up to the media and they are being hated even more.

4) The target audience for this lecture is aimed for the ABC1 for the core audience but this audience may be the secondary audience for the film. These people are also reformers.

5) Plan B also explains how he was about to get mugged while filming but a group of street youth came to help him out, he explained this to the media but the media rejected the fact he was saved and only published that he was being attacked by the youth. This links to Cohen theory about how the youth are exaggerated and demonised and are stereotyped. The media doesn't use words to discriminate racial groups or ethnicities but its okay to call un educated troubled kids chavs?

ll Manors Making Of The Film: (DVD Extras)

In the DVD extras for the film there was a extra for the making of the film, it focused on interviews with the actors, producers and Ben Drew himself. From this extra, Ben Drew addresses his intentions in order to make this film knock the audiences head around and he wants them to feel something. He wants the audience to know that the youth are not what they think and they are actually distressed young individuals that feel like they are not loved due to the media. He wants people to know they are misunderstood and he wants to help the youth. He has done this by going back to these distressed streets to use kids from these areas to act to give a sense of realism and to help them out.

In terms of production process he has been wanting to make his own film for a very long time, he explains how he has had very basic experience by making short films with "Ed" from Ill Manors and that he used his music as an advantage to his directing. The first rap / short video he made with his actor actually managed to air on channel 4, When making ill manors, he did face many problems, during the time of being able to make the film in 2009 there was a serious credit crunch which made the producers not want to pay for it and back down, although the crew, Ben and actors were still determined to make this film, and they did so. This meant that they may had to use their own costume and props. Also, Ben Drew went back to his area to find this distressed youth in order to give them a chance in the industry and to make a change. Ben Drew also wanted to shoot the film in forest gate, east London which is where he wrote the film. When shooting in this area the crew had to use a small crew to be obviousness to the thugs as they did bring trouble.

His target audience was aimed a lot at the troubled youth, in order to bring realism in the film he travelled to the estate areas in east London, he used actors that are already used to these situations other then using actors that have to fake themselves in. He used many of the kids from these areas and gave them chances to move up in the industry. Although he does say that this film should aim the people that judge the rioters from media on the TV and he aims to make them think that these troubled youth are in distress and that they have reasons for taking place in the riots.

Overall the directors, producers, crew and actors did find the film a success it was absolute and clear to Ben Drews story. He was able to express all his beliefs and had his believers with him which managed to help him drive forward. He showed that these rioters and troubled youth are an example of nothing is black and white, nothing is pure evil. He showed that these types of characters do exist and no one shows them love.

Media Exam Learner Feedback:

This new exam was a lot more difficult than the one before, I got 29/40 and I was 1 mark off my grade above, which is what happened last time :(

WWW: All solid answers showing good use of media language and theory.
EBI: However, you lack depth and lack of paragraphing / variety of points makes it hard to award top level marks.

LR: (Narrative)
The directors for this trailer have used a great sense of narrative in order to tell the story of the participants of the Paralympics. One of the narrative techniques it managed to use if the Action and Enigma codes. This may be as in the middle of the trailer they have a montage of clips showing bad events such as bomb explosions, car crashes and distressed pregnant mothers. This may intrigue the audience as they may want to know how these things can effect the participants and what they now do to over come these events. The action code is that they are always training for the Paralympics, they also has a clip where one participant was posing next to a crashed car, this signifies that he has overcome his past. The scenes that show the bad events in the past also show a sense of narration as it has used the technique of flashbacks, this enables the audience to feel a lot more closer to the participants and informs them about their past.

Also, the director wanted the narrative to show a lot os suspense for the audience, the use of using slow motions and close ups help to bring out this suspense, also by filling in the intro and the majority of the trailer with clips of the participants training help build suspense as the audience want to know if they win. Another good example of suspense if the montage of clips started at when the basketball player takes a shot, the soundtrack stops and a clip of all of the sports take place of them reaching their goal, by cutting the soundtrack is kept the audience to the edge of their seat to see if they make it.

This trailer also uses the technique of equilibrium and disequilibrium as the trailer starts of with the athletes training all and well and then goes to the flashback of the bad events, this is the disequilibrium, it then ends with them winning with pride in their sport, this is the new equilibrium. This trailer also uses characterisation as they use lots of close ups and shots of the athletes which gives the audience a sense of who they are.
