Media Exam Learner Feedback:

This new exam was a lot more difficult than the one before, I got 29/40 and I was 1 mark off my grade above, which is what happened last time :(

WWW: All solid answers showing good use of media language and theory.
EBI: However, you lack depth and lack of paragraphing / variety of points makes it hard to award top level marks.

LR: (Narrative)
The directors for this trailer have used a great sense of narrative in order to tell the story of the participants of the Paralympics. One of the narrative techniques it managed to use if the Action and Enigma codes. This may be as in the middle of the trailer they have a montage of clips showing bad events such as bomb explosions, car crashes and distressed pregnant mothers. This may intrigue the audience as they may want to know how these things can effect the participants and what they now do to over come these events. The action code is that they are always training for the Paralympics, they also has a clip where one participant was posing next to a crashed car, this signifies that he has overcome his past. The scenes that show the bad events in the past also show a sense of narration as it has used the technique of flashbacks, this enables the audience to feel a lot more closer to the participants and informs them about their past.

Also, the director wanted the narrative to show a lot os suspense for the audience, the use of using slow motions and close ups help to bring out this suspense, also by filling in the intro and the majority of the trailer with clips of the participants training help build suspense as the audience want to know if they win. Another good example of suspense if the montage of clips started at when the basketball player takes a shot, the soundtrack stops and a clip of all of the sports take place of them reaching their goal, by cutting the soundtrack is kept the audience to the edge of their seat to see if they make it.

This trailer also uses the technique of equilibrium and disequilibrium as the trailer starts of with the athletes training all and well and then goes to the flashback of the bad events, this is the disequilibrium, it then ends with them winning with pride in their sport, this is the new equilibrium. This trailer also uses characterisation as they use lots of close ups and shots of the athletes which gives the audience a sense of who they are.
